2. Go camping… in the backyard

A picnic can be a great way to spend some time outside with the family. Is there a lake or park recently that you’d love to visit? Grab your picnic blanket, basket and a homemade lunch and go make some memories!
4. Fruit picking
Plenty of farms these days will let you fill a bucket with as many berries or fruits as you physically can. Fruit picking is another cheap and easy way to spend time with the kids outdoors. Just don’t forget to pack sunscreen!
5. Geocaching
Ever heard of Geocaching? It’s an activity that thousands of people all around the country participate in every week. Geocaching works by using a GPS-enabled device to find items hidden in secret locations. There’s plenty of communities, and apps you can download to get started right away. Alternatively, you can hide your own treasure!
Sometimes even during summer, we get the occasional rainy day, but that shouldn’t stop you from having fun! Here are 5 of the best indoor summer activities for kids during the school holidays.
6. Make a treasure/scavenger hunt

7. It’s time to bake!
You don’t need many ingredients to bake a cake. It’s also not that hard, so even your little ones can join in. Why not take it a step further and turn it into a competition! The best part is, you get to eat cake at the end!
8. Board games, board games and more board games
There are countless board games for all ages these days and you probably have a dozen or so collecting dust in your cupboards. Go and find them (yes, all of them), choose your kids’ favourite ones and create some happy memories!
9. Make a time capsule
This is a great opportunity to capture memories that you and your kids will cherish forever. So, here’s how it’s done. Choose some containers and start decorating them. Then, gather things like newspaper clippings, certificates/ribbons from sports days, art projects and more. Lastly, ask your kids to write a note to their future self and place everything inside the container. Choose a place to bury your time capsule and a date in the future to dig it back up. Years later, you and your children will open the time capsule and reminisce on all the memories you created together.
10. Make some homemade popsicles
Summer can sometimes get so hot that you need to stay indoors. Aircon is one way to stay cool, but enjoying some homemade popsicles is another! All you need are popsicle sticks, some juice or a tasty beverage and a tray or mould to make them in. Experiment with different ingredient combinations to make some unique tasty treats!
