The kitchen has long been referred to as ‘the heart of the home’, and this certainly still holds true in 2022. Gone are the days when kitchens were used purely for cooking. Open plan living, island benches and modern kitchen designs have changed the look and functionality of kitchens and they are now arguably the most highly frequented area of the home. Kitchens are where we cook, yes, but they are also where we eat, chat, do homework, enjoy cups of tea and entertain our guests. So, if the heart of your home needs a bit of a glow up this year, below are some must-have kitchen appliances in 2022.
1. Air fryer
There is a lot of hype around the air-fryer, and for good reason. An air-fryer is a benchtop convection oven that circulates hot air to crisp up or bake your food. Little to no oil is required, cooking times are relatively quick, food cooks evenly, and it saves you from heating up your house with an oven or having to clean up frypan splatter. So whether you’re in the mood for French fries, chicken nuggets or a piece of baked salmon, the air fryer can do it all.
2. Pressure cooker
Pressure cookers are invaluable when it comes to meal preparation, and many models these days also slow cook, sauté and more! These handy devices not only reduce cooking time, but they are said to be more effective at locking in nutrients and enhancing flavour when compared to other cooking methods such as boiling.
3. Coffee machine
Now this one is for the caffeine lovers out there. Having your very own coffee machine might sound a little extravagant, but it may actually save you money in the long run. Making your own cups of coffee at home is likely going to work out cheaper than buying a barista-made brew every day at your local coffee shop. Plus, there’s also the convenience factor! However, before running to your nearest retailer and handing over your card, be sure to consider whether you have enough bench space to accommodate the appliance, as well as the machine’s functionality and maintenance requirements.
4. Nut butter stirrer
If you’re sick of almost pulling a muscle trying to stir your natural peanut butter with a spoon, then this one is for you. It takes a fair bit of strength and determination to blend those healthy oils in, but there are tools out there to help! Spread mixers and stirrers are on the market, so if this task is a pet peeve of yours, get googling!
There are countless cool gadgets and state of the art appliances to kit out your kitchen with, and what you opt for will of course depend on a number of factors, such as your budget and lifestyle. When making a decision it may also be helpful to consider the size and style of your kitchen, the warranty of the product and the potential value it will add to your everyday life.
If you are in need of some finance assistance, whether it be for a personal loan to fund a kitchen project, or to buy your next property, your local MoneyQuest mortgage broker is only a phone call or email away.
